Newsletter 42: September 2002
Dear
Pelicans
I don't know if this is going to work or not. I sent out the updated
addresses yesterday with the help of a friend of mine who is an IT buff.
He's not here to-day so I am chancing my arm.
John Hennebry asks to be more completely construed; he lives at 1/22
Duke Street, Kew, Victoria 3101 which is NSW, I guess. His telephone
is +61 3 9853 5850 (same fax). His mobile is 0405 106 509. Thank
you, John.
I was in Blacklion for Cemetery Sunday. As ever, Bud had laid
flowers on Peter's grave.
Cuilcagh was another failure. Down below was splendid sunshine but
the mountain was wreathed in mist, just impossible to get up.
I renewed acquaintance with the Corrigans of Tullynacor, Belcoo.
Last time was 28 June 1956. Did any of you know Dr Nessan McCann?
He's out in California but has produced his life story,
A Doctor's Odyssey. A group of us first met him after
a day's fishing up on Garvagh Lough 28 September 1955. He mentions
Garvagh on p.48 of the book. An absorbing read.
Are you thinking Africa? Donations please to our secretary Pat
Gibbons. Cheques should be made out to the Pelicans. We
get some heartbreaking letters of thanks from the missionaries out there.
Some of them account for every penny.
Are you thinking website? Please HIT, HIT, HIT.
Brother Paddy had put 3 stone on last time I heard from him and was
actually beginning to enjoy his daily pint of Guinness.
Eugene
